Professor Neil Turner Phd FRCP
Neil Turner is Professor of Nephrology in Edinburgh. He has previously worked in renal units in Aberdeen, Hammersmith, and Oxford, and in medicine more widely. He was an MRC Training Fellow, Kidney Research UK Senior Research Fellow, and continues to investigate autoimmunity and autoimmune kidney disease. In addition to research, he is involved in teaching, and in the provision of information for patients, the public, and staff, particularly on the Internet.
Mr Rupert Caldecott - appointed June 2002
Rupert is a partner at Dalton Strategic Partnership LLP. He has worked in financial services in the City and abroad for over thirty years. He brings with him a wealth of monetary and management experience.
Diana Blass
Whilst having a background in teaching children with special needs, Diana first became directly involved with the charity in 2000 when her husband Brian, a dialysis patient, and Diana as his carer joined the charity's National Patient Advisory Group. Sadly, Brian passed away shortly after joining the Group, due to complications following transplant surgery. Brian's death further reinforced Diana's commitment to the charity, and she became an active volunteer within the charity's Charity Affairs department. Her work with the charity did not go unnoticed by the Board of Trustees and, as part of the charity's commitment to patient welfare; Diana was invited to join the Board of Trustees in June 2003.
Alexander (Sandy) Davison RD, MD, FRCP
Alex M Davison is a retired professor based in Scotland with a lifetime of interest in Nephrology. He sits on the board of trustees with special responsibilities to help develop the charity's medical programs.
Professor J Andrew Bradley MB ChB, PhD, FRCS
Professor J Andrew Bradley is Professor of Surgery at the University of Cambridge, and Honorary Consultant surgeon at Addenbrook's Hospital in Cambridge. Prior to this he worked in Glasgow, firstly as a Consultant Surgeon at the Western Infirmary, and then as Chair of Surgery at the University of Glasgow. His research interests encompass clinical and experimental transplantation, particularly the immunological mechanisms of allograft rejection. Professor Bradley has also enjoyed a significant number of outside appointments. His previous positions have included President of the British Transplantation Society, member of the Expert Reference Group of the Renal NSF, and member of the Kidney Research UK Grants Committee. He is currently Secretary of the International Transplantation Society and member of the Unrelated Live donor Transplant Authority (ULTRA).
Professor Caroline OS Savage FRCP FMedSci
Professor Caroline Savage is Professor of Nephrology at the University of Birmingham and Honorary Consultant Physician at University Hospitals Birmingham, NHS Foundation Trust. She qualified from the Royal London Hospital Medical School in 1978 and trained in renal medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, London. She is interested in all aspects of renal patient care but has a specific clinical and laboratory interest in immunologically mediated kidney diseases. Professor Savage is also Programme Director of the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility in Birmingham and Chair of the Renal Association Research Committee.
Professor Michael L Nicholson MD FRCS
Michael Nicholson is Professor of Transplant Surgery at the University of Leicester, and has been a Consultant Transplant Surgeon for the last fourteen years. He gained the degrees of BmedSci with First Class Honours in 1980 and BMBS with Distinction in 1982 from the University of Nottingham, became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1986 and obtained his MD (Leicester) in 1990. His training in transplantation was performed in Leicester and Oxford under the aegis of Sir Peter Bell and Sir Peter Morris, and this led to many clinical interests, most notably kidney transplantation from non-heart-beating donors. During his career, Professor Nicholson has received several awards and prizes, including most recently the Moynihan Prize and Medal from the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. In addition to serving on the editorial boards of Transplantation and The British Journal of Surgery, he also directs a research team with interests in a wide variety of transplant research areas. His published work includes more than 230 peer-reviewed papers.
Andrew Gaulter, Solicitor
Andrew Gaulter joined Citigroup in May 2000, transferring from Schroders. He heads up the UK Company Secretarial function. Andrew is a trustee of a Citigroup pension scheme and secretary of the UK Career Academy Foundation, an educational charity of which Citigroup is a main sponsor. Andrew is a qualified solicitor of 29 years’ standing. He was previously Group Company Secretary of Schroders plc from 1990 to 2000. He served with Schroders for a total of 24 years.
John H Bartlett
John was appointed to his current position as Controller Exploration & Production at BP plc in May 2003. In this role he is responsible for ensuring that all business transactions and financial results for BP’s Exploration and Production business segment are recorded, reported and forecast with integrity, transparency and in a timely manner. John is also accountable for delivery of robust Management Information processes to support delivery of business performance and must ensure that the Business Segment has an effective system of financial control. John is a member of the Exploration and Production Executive Leadership Team (SET) and leads an international team of Regional and Business Financial Controllers and Accountants, numbering more than 700. Prior to his current role John was the Head of UK and Business Taxes with responsibility for the management of all upstream oil and gas tax issues in the BP Group. For the past ten years John has represented BP and the UK Oil industry on fiscal issues with memberships of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), The International Fiscal Association, the UK Oil Operators Association (UKOOA) and the UK Oil Industry Tax Committee (UKOITC).
