Whilst having a background in teaching children with special needs, Diana first became directly involved with the charity in 2000 when her husband Brian, a dialysis patient, and Diana as his carer joined the charity's National Patient Advisory Group. Sadly, Brian passed away shortly after joining the Group, due to complications following transplant surgery. Brian's death further reinforced Diana's commitment to the charity, and she became an active volunteer within the charity's Charity Affairs department. Her work with the charity did not go unnoticed by the Board of Trustees and, as part of the charity's commitment to patient welfare; Diana was invited to join the Board of Trustees in June 2003.
