| Walk up Britain's highest mountain |
Walking up Ben Nevis ranks highly on most people’s ‘things I have to do list’, making this challenge one of Kidney Research UK’s most popular fundraising events. On the weekends of 15th September and 13th October 2006, we will be making our annual exodus to ‘The Ben’, and we are inviting people across the country to join our merry band of ramblers. Last year, 60 people joined us to conquer Ben Nevis, which at 4,480ft, is Britain’s highest mountain. The chosen route took five hours to reach the top, but only three to make the descent. In the evening, our walkers celebrated their achievement with a hearty meal and a party. Linda Rogers, Events Manager, commented, “We set up this challenge to suit all levels of fitness and stamina, so that everyone can enjoy it. You don’t have to be a fitness fanatic or a devoted walker – if you enjoy the outdoors and would like to experience some of the most beautiful scenery in Britain, then this is the challenge for you.” Participants are invited to stay in one of Fort William’s luxury hotels, and we will arrange your food for the weekend, plus travel from the nearest mainline station to where you live. This is sure to be a weekend to remember, and even more importantly, will help us fund research to save lives. You must only pledge to raise £400 in sponsorship money, which our dedicated fundraising managers can easily help you achieve. For more information and how to register, please click here |
