| Mike Herbert's Kilimanjaro Trek |
Mike Reaches the summit of KilimanjaroMike decided to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Kidney Research UK.His inspiration for raising money for Kidney Research UK is his brother-in-law ,and lifelong friend, Terry Edwards. He sadly died in June last year after nearly 10 years of illness, countless hospital stays, many hours of dialysis and 2 kidney transplants. He also have 2 nephews with kidney disease, one of whom dialyses several times a week and who has suffered a failed transplant. He still manages to hold down a full time job. His Ascent to the top of the mountain took him over 7 hours to complete the 19,500 feet to Uhuru Peak. This is really an astonishing achievement and to date Mike has raised over £2,750 which will go towards life saving research.
