The Great North Run in Newcastle is coming up on Sunday 12 September 2021 and we need your help to support our runners and join #TeamKidney.
We are looking for volunteers who are outgoing, enthusiastic and happy to interact with the runners and other volunteers. We have various ‘on the day’ roles which include making tea and coffee, giving out goodie bags, managing the massage queue, being there to meet and greet our runners in the charity village marquee and two cheering stations - the difference a loud cheering station makes to someone running past is enormous!
We are going ahead as usual with our events but keeping a close eye on the government guidelines as our volunteers and staff safety is key. If there are any additional changes to the days plan, we will keep you up to date.
Marathon day is a busy day and is usually quite crowded, please make sure you’re happy with this before coming along.
In return for your time and enthusiasm you’ll get:
- A Kidney Research UK volunteer t-shirt
- As many purple cheer props as you can handle - wigs, noise stix; all to help you stand out in the crowd!
- A huge welcome, a great atmosphere and the feeling that you’re helping do something amazing for a great cause.
There is no age limit on volunteering however we ask that anyone under 18 is always accompanied by an adult.
We’d prefer it if you could stay for the whole event to support all our fantastic runners but understand it can be a long day and you might have someone running that you’d like to meet at the end. If you could just let us know a rough idea of how long you’re able to cheer that would be lovely.
